Who Built the Pyramids?

Who Built the Pyramids?

The Ancient Egyptians lived thousands and thousands of years ago and did not even have proper iron tools yet managed to produce some of the greatest buildings ever known to man. The earliest pyramid of Djoser is recorded as being built nearly 2000 years before even the Ancient Greeks or Romans built their own grand structures and empires. In fact the great pyramid of Khufu near Egyptian Capital Cairo is the biggest pyramid of them all and is the only one of the seven wonders of the ancient world still standing today. The great structure of these ancient buildings has created many sceptics (doubters) and some people even claim the pyramids were built by aliens! However, what I can tell you from actual fact is that the pyramids were built as great tombs for the Ancient Egyptian kings (Pharoahs) from where they were to ascend to the afterlife. The Ancient Egyptians believed strongly in ascending into an afterlife and the word pyramid translates as ascendancy from ancient Egyptian.

Archaeologists and Historians studying the pyramids state that they were most probably built by tens of thousands of slaves all working like ants to heave the heavy rocks up to form these great triangular tombs. Some even suggest that hundreds of thousands of slaves would have been involved in their building! American researcher Mark Lehner amazingly found evidence to suggest that the workers who built the pyramids were not actually slaves but well fed workers who were simply earning a living! Whoever you think built these great structures, what we do know is that they have stood for roughly 4000 years and are still well intact. Researcher Peter James actually claimed that it would be impossible to drag the great stone blocks up the side of the pyramid and build them from the bottom up as it would simply be too steep and he rather suggests that they were built from the inside out protecting and growing from the heart of the structure (the middle) which was the sarcophagus in which the mummified Pharoah was laid to rest. There is no doubt that the Ancient Egyptians provided us with a great mystery and are one of the first great peoples of the Ancient World.
