Having travelled to some amazing capitals, I can honestly say that London is the one that fascinates me the most. Even after I have lived in or near London for over 14 years of my life, on many occasions I feel like I am discovering London for the first time. It’s a city which truly does have it all - from bungee jumping and mob dances to world class theatre and Harrods. Over time, I have realised that despite London being incredibly expensive there are many free, or at least cheaper, entertainment options that all students can enjoy!

What draws me to London above all is its pride in multiculturalism. You never cease to be inspired when walking down Portobello Road or strolling through Shoreditch. The variety of languages spoken and music heard reflects the people who live there. The smell of street food fills my lungs each time I go to Borough Market and enables me to taste a different cuisine each time. It is precisely in London where I have found pizza reminiscent of my days spent by the bay of Naples. Pizza Pilgrims is one of the many Italian restaurants that provides simple food at its best. I also love Lebanese, Indian and Greek restaurants and London caters for every fancy one may have when it comes to food!

A fantastic free option for both tourists and locals is to explore London’s museums. Indeed, the city boasts some of the most important relics in the world, including part of the Greek parthenon in the British Museum. Here, you can also find yourself walking in the midst of a pyramid as during the 19th century entire pyramid walls were transferred to London. Art is resonant throughout the city and can be explored by strolling through centuries of masterpieces in the Victoria and Albert Museum or experimenting the vibes of modern art in the Saatchi gallery. The Saatchi Gallery was opened in 1985 by Charles Saatchi in order to showcase his own work. Today, artists relish the opportunity to have their work featured at the gallery as it provides great exposure alongside a potential career boost.

One unique experience I recently discovered needs to be booked a week or so in advance but I can assure you it is well worth the wait, and it is free! I’m talking about a trip to the much celebrates Sky Gardens, which can be found on the top floor of the famous London building, known as the ‘Walkie Talkie’ due to its share, near the Shard. Here, on the 36th floor you will find an amazing 360 degree view of London. If you share my same fear of heights do not fret as even I got used to being up in the sky  the beauty of both what is outside the glass walls and the amazing settings inside provide a great distraction! Whilst taking in the spectacular views of London you can sit down to enjoy a sweet coffee or experience fine-dining in the Darwin Brasserie which features the best of British Dining.
