The Selection
By Kiera Cass
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.
But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a important competition for a crown she doesn't want. Even more, the palace is constantly being attacked by Northern and Southerns rebels.
Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not be what she thought it would be.
I love how captivating this book is and you can’t put it down once you start. I stayed up till way past my bedtime reading this book. The Selection is a dystopian book, suggesting that we have already had a fourth world war when it is set. Personally, I love this kind of books such as The Hunger Games and Divergent. The author appeals to young teenage girls, like many of the students in this school. It is definitely a teenage romance. I don’t feel that this book has any flaws. There are also other books in the series, continuing the story. I give this book a 5 out of 5 and is a wonderful book to read.
