About Me: Hello, I'm Dabbie (short for Dabeluchi). I am a student at Dartford Grammar School for Girls. I love reading mystery books, and solving the mystery with the author. I hope you enjoy reading my stories.
“Hi, nice to meet you; my name is Mia. Make yourself at home. Feel free to explore. Would you like anything?”
“No thanks I am fine.” She began to talk with my parents. I slouched on the couch. They headed upstairs while I began to play on my phone. To see through the night sky, I turned on the lamp.
Whoosh! I tumbled. Crash! I fell. Phew! I landed. Luckily, I had landed right back on the couch. But I was no longer in the living room. Nervously, I looked around – hoping to find an exit – unfortunately I had no luck. I continued my search.
Frightened, I walked backwards. It was looking at me! In the blink of an eye, it vanished. How odd! Was I imagining it? I looked at the wall and for the first time noticed the sign; it read: Fear room. I knew this would not help, but all I could do was hope my biggest fear did not come true. The worst nightmare in the world was happening and the main course was on its way! It was walking towards me. I leaned against the wall, holding my knees, trying to clear all fears from my mind. Something opened.
A door had opened.
When I had opened it, I shut the fear room door tight and locked it a billion times so that I would never have to go there again. This room had pink wallpaper and this time I decided to look for the label. I couldn’t find it. “Hello? Anyone in there.” I called. I rubbed my eyes. How? What? Who? Am I dreaming? In busted a horned horse. A unicorn! On its back, I saw the label: Imagination room. I ducked my head as a griffin came flying past.
I’ve been playing for so long. I’m so exhausted that I can’t even stand up but they want to play and play and play. While I just wanna sleep and sleep and sleep, now they are getting angry and you do not wanna see a unicorn livid at all. I ran around the room shaking things to see if it would open the door. Nothing worked. Her horn had a laser! I crouched down as she was about to shoot. She lasered the door open.
In a hurry to leave the imagination room, I ran out before they could get me. The door led to a room of secrets and cryptic pasts. It was dusty and filled with boxes. Providentially, I happen to be carrying a torch.
SLAM! We were locked in.
Using my torch, I found a box labelled: Claire’s heritage. Distressed yet excited, I opened it to find a variety of things. Eager, I made the connection and watched the video. It explained our ancestors. Once it was finished, I unplugged the drive from my phone and returned it to where I found it. I looked through the files as I had been instructed to. I expected secrets but not ones as deep as this.
My mouth dropped, it was hanging. How could they not have told me! My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps and 2 familiar voices. Promptly, I packed away the papers and hid behind some old antique clocks. “It’s time to tell Claire about her heritage.” A voice said handing mum the box and dad another box (that I haven’t seen).
Mum began to call my name. I panicked. My torched dropped and I searched around for it. “What’s that sound!” mum asked. I searched under the doormat in front of me; finding both my torch and something else.
To cover my tracks, I pretended to be confused when the boxes were given to me. Mum sat next to me and dad began to explain. “…feel free to ask any questions. You can look through the boxes. Please don’t tell anyone else. Ok?” I nodded. Elated, I searched through the boxes. We were heir to the throne.
