Have you ever been told to not judge a book by its cover? Have you ever wondered where that phrase comes from? It has a literal meaning, however it is also a metaphor meaning do not judge someone/something by how they appear. It was first used in the 1800s by George Elliot in his novel ‘The Mills on the Floss’, however it became a popular saying in the 1920s and has stuck. Today, however we are going to use this famous phrase to make a competition.
We would like you to design and create a book cover. This can be made in any format, however Paint would be the easiest programme to use. This cover must include: the name of the story, the author, and any design you wish. The design on the cover must relate to the title though, no need to think of a storyline - let the artist within you come alive!
Good Luck!
