My mysterious box of joy

My Mysterious Box of Joy

I will put in my box,

the luminous stars studded like diamonds in the sky as black as a top hat,

the first adorable laugh of my cute baby brother,

and the taste of a delicious full English breakfast sizzling in a frying pan.

I will put in my box,

the comforting smile of my kind caring mother,

the pride of finishing your first fatiguing race,

the excitement of waking up knowing it's your birthday.

I will put in my box,

thirteen months and a permanently pink sky,

a child who looks after their mum,

land fantastic fish and chips for breakfast.

My box is fashioned

from emeralds, diamonds and rubies,

with fire on the lid and joy in the corners.

Its hinges are reassuring rainbow colours.

I shall swim in my box

in the turquoise Tanzanian waters

And effortlessly globe through the wonderful waves

before landing on a golden sandy beach,

As relaxed as can be.
