Menacing Memories
Like an aeroplane, helplessly tumbling towards Earth,
Bombs, black, brutish bombs, screeching,
An echo that pierced through the air.
I lay.
The dark, inky tongue of the sky licking my face,
My hair caked in brown icing,
A ruby red cherry on top.
Blood.
Blood everywhere.
On my face, clothes,
As my father beat me, black and blue,
My ma in the background, lachrymose,
Agony her middle name.
I longed to hear her silvery laugh, smell her fresh, pastry pies,
Would I ever see her again?
But there were no goodbyes, no words,
Just his brash glare,
His vexed eyes,
Staring, staring.
His face may be a work of art,
But under his devil-encrusted skin,
Lays an ugly heart.
Now I’m in My Country,
Who is up to her neck in a fight,
I just want to see her in peace,
And tell me,
Goodnight.
