About Me: Hello, I'm Dabbie (short for Dabeluchi). I am a student at Dartford Grammar School for Girls. I love reading mystery books, and solving the mystery with the author. I hope you enjoy reading my stories.
The car was baking. I wasn’t sure if it was the temperature from the exhibit or the sun (which acts a lot like an oven). It was chaotic. They were all trying to see the monkeys. All of them except me – I didn’t really care. It was the summer holidays. Most people were abroad and I am at some childish animal home.
Once the exhibit was finished, we began to drive back to the hotel. Finally! Time to take a rest!
Occasionally, the car would slow down. Thanks to dad being too cheap, he never took the car to be fixed. We had become so used to the sound that no one saw it coming. I saw it coming. The car took a deep rest.
We are officially stuck in the jungle! Yay! (By the way, that’s sarcastic.)
Groaning and moaning, we climbed out of the car. To save time, we tried to navigate our way to the hotel. We tried left first. Let's just say that things didn't go as well; we happened to walk into a troop of monkeys. Joey, to my greatest annoyance, was eating a banana. It was just like in the car. Sometimes I wonder what is wrong with him. Thanks to Joey, we were attacked by a vicious troop of monkeys.
After that incident, we went right. It was going well. "Do you know what I have always wanted to do? It will be fun. You're gonna enjoy it. Let's swing from vine to vine!" Mum busted out tingling in excitement. We are lost in the jungle so we might as well have as much fun as possible. Everyone else had fun. Here's a friendly reminder: when you are in a jungle, always be careful not to swing on a snake. They won't be happy when you interrupt their beauty sleep. Trust me on that because it won't end well with you.
Right now I am furious like a big ball of fire. I have been attacked by a monkey and a snake. All I really wanted was a nice relaxing holiday and this is what I get. Are you kidding me?
Dad - then for some reason that I do not understand - decided to scratch. He went up to a tree. "I have always wondered what this feels like," Dad explained. There was a tearing sound. Paper. Map. It was all coming back. When each family arrived we got a map so that we could navigate our way around. We might actually have a chance of surviving!
We walked. It was a long walk. Nothing could go wrong! Well, it looks like I jinxed it. Bird poo! How ideal! Now we can't see the map! "Isn't that it!" Joey blurted pointing at the hotel. I was so felicitous that I ran up to him and hugged him. We were nearly at the hotel.
"Run!" I roared "They are about to close their doors!" We ran. We ran as a family. We ran as a family for our lives. We made it. We made it as a family.
