Hi. I’m Abby. I’ve got beautiful light brown hair, with a blonde ombre at the ends. I’ve got light blue eyes, and an amazing sense of style, always making sure I’m up to date with the latest trends. My mum is a model and my dad is an actor, so we make a lot of money. I have a Jacuzzi in my house and many en-suites. And two dogs. And I go horse-riding in the summer. And, not to brag, but I am the most popular girl in our year. I’ve heard loads of people are jealous of me. So, yeah, I do have a pretty amazing life.

So yeah, one day I was walking to school with my amazing designer bag, my friends next to me, laughing about this hilarious picture on Instagram, when boring Elaine overtook us.

“Oi! Four-eyes! Why are you walking so fast?” I yelled to her, and my friends and I cracked up laughing. “Careful you don’t crash into the bin! Oh wait, sorry I forgot, it’s your home because that’s where you belong, along with all the other rubbish!”

The reason why we called her four-eyes, was because she wore those weird Harry Potter glasses. And we think she’s boring because she’s just so smart, and is every teacher’s pet. She only has short, wispy brown hair, and brown eyes, and when it comes to non-uniform day, she comes in wearing these strange old-fashioned clothes. Her clothes are boring, she looks boring, and even her name is boring! I mean, who wants to name their own daughter Elaine? It sounds old-fashioned too.

I mean, who wants to be smart when they can be pretty? Like, models don’t need to know math’s to get their job do they? That’s what I want to be when I’m older, like my mum. I’m sure I can even be a child model if I wanted to.

Anyway, I was in English, when Miss turned on the power point on the screen and started to read things out, when she told us, “And, girls and boys, you should be taking detailed notes on this. It is very important.” Then resumed talking.

I squinted over at the board. “Ella, the words on the screen is a bit small for me. Can you read it? I mean, how am I meant to take notes on this when I can’t even read it,” I whispered to Ella.

     “Girls, stop talking!” Miss said.

“Sorry, Miss, but I can’t read the board.”

“Well, I haven’t got time to change the print. Come over to the computer and look for yourself,” she said impatiently.

Unfortunately, the same thing happened to every other subject that day. And, even more unfortunately, every day it seemed it was getting worse and worse. What was getting worse, you say? Well, my eyesight! It seemed however I squinted my eyes, I couldn’t get the damn wriggly words to stop being so fuzzy.

My mum eventually noticed this, when trying to make me read something or other, and dragged me down to the Opticians, me moaning and groaning.

“I can’t go there, mum! But what if I need glasses!” I howled.

“For God’s sake, Abby! Calm down! If you need glasses, then you have to have the bloody glasses!” she huffed.

That day I came back home, grumpy as ever, with my new glasses in a case. I couldn’t face having to wear glasses to school. I wanted to crawl into a hole and die. I would much rather wear Elaine’s creepy clothes, than put that piece of plastic on my nose. Ugh.

The next day was probably the worst day of my life. My friends didn’t say anything about it when they saw me in the morning, since they knew it would set me into a tantrum. However, when it came to the lessons, I felt… like I was being whispered about. Like I was left out of something that was happening behind my back. But the worst thing was Elaine. Sometimes I caught her staring at me. And, weirdly, it made me feel guilty.

From then on, I never made fun of anyone ever again.
