About Me: Hello, I'm Dabbie (short for Dabeluchi). I am a student at Dartford Grammar School for Girls. I love reading mystery books, and solving the mystery with the author. I hope you enjoy reading my stories.
Catherine had always loved the view. She leaned over the balcony and looked out at the picturesque sunset. The gradient transitioned perfectly. Catherine breathed out slowly and walked back inside her apartment. Everyday the sunset would help relax her mind from school and life. The door locked and the gradient of colours morphed into dark blue with white spots scattered around the sky.
The sudden vibration of her alarm clock threw her out of her dreams. As she sat upright, her textbook fell off her chest and rolled down to her legs. As she yawned and stretched, she saw the time flashing at her and rolled off the bed and ran to the bathroom. The bristles were forcefully pushed across her teeth. The hard water hit against the smooth floor and in no time, the bathroom door was flung open. She looked at her watch. Five minutes to seven! She opened her door and locked it. She dashed out of the apartment block. Sweat was running down her face. She felt the breeze going through her hair pushing it away. As the bell was about to ring she ran into the hall and joined the end of the queue.
She opened the door and walked out of the door with a book full of notes. Her arm was pulled first. It sent her body spinning to the right. She looked confused as she was unaware of what was happening. Her eyes caught sight of a human figure. He was taller than her by about an inch and looked down into her eyes. “How was class?”
“What do you want?”
“My payment.”
They had made the deal so long ago. it had slipped her mind. What would she say? What would she do? She felt as if there was a river on the back of her neck. Out of panic Catherine pulled out her phone and then blurted out “I’ll give you the money by the end of the semester.” She camouflaged herself within the dispersing crowd and made her escape. William stood staring as he was puzzled at what just happened and pushed the crowd but couldn’t see where she had gone.
Catherine raided her drawers for loose change. Unfortunately, she only gained an extra 20p which now made a total of £5.20. She opened her laptop and scrolled through some job offers. It wasn’t long until she found one paying at the highest salary that did not require much skills. She applied for it and ran out for her interview. While on the bus, she brushed her hair and made herself presentable.
It was barely a five-minute journey. She jumped off the bus and ran towards the job so that she could be five minutes late. After all, the application required you to always be punctual and she needed this job. Catherine met with the manager. They talked very calmly and the interview went very well. “Congratulatulations! You have the job and you will be on the counter and you will receive your cheque at the end of the month.
Catherine had just finished her first day at work and took a bus back home. She lay on her bed with a grin. She was going to finally make this payment. Catherine would like to see William’s face when she pays him.
