Competition Time

Following the recent London Olympics, we want you to write a short diary entry or story as though you are an Olympian and you are just getting ready for the big race. The piece must be at least 300 words and can be up to 750 words.

Tips for young writers:

- Look at all the different types of sports played in the Olympics and choose one that interests you.

- Read books that are written in the first person, look at how they are written.

- Draw your character to get a really good feel of him/her.

- Keep to the point, don’t stray off the writer’s path.

If you are finding it difficult, here is a quick example to help:

Or

Dear Diary

I am scared, the blood is pumping through my body so much I can’t hear anything, not even my own thoughts. There is so much pressure I just really want to deliver.
