Boiled Eggs. They are more complicated than you think!

Boiled Eggs. They are more complicated than you think!

Boiled eggs may be a lot harder than you think! You can cook boiled eggs many different ways, and it can vary from the temperature of the water and even how many seconds you keep the eggs in the water for. Here are the different ways to serve boiled eggs, and how to cook them.

The first point of order when cooking boiled eggs, no matter how you like them cooked, is to boil a saucepan of water. Fill the saucepan ¾ of the way and bring it to the boil. A tip to make sure you don’t get cracked egg shells is to make sure that your eggs are room temperature, especially if they have been taken out of the fridge. Then lower the eggs gently into the water with a spoon, dipping the eggs in and out to gradually adjust them to the heat of the water. Once the eggs are all cooked add some salt and pepper on top to give them a bit of flavour.

Runny:-

Perfect for soldier dipping runny egg yolks make for a fun as well as healthy breakfast, yet I always manage to over cook them. For runny yolks you must turn the heat right down and allow the water the simmer with the eggs for about 5 minutes.

Soft:-

Good for soldiers, but just cooked enough to eat with a spoon. To get the perfect soft egg yolk again turn down the heat of the saucepan and let it simmer. Add the eggs and then let them cook for about 7 and a half minutes.

Hard:-

For hard boiled eggs simmer the water and cook them for about 10 minutes. The yolk will be fully cooked and perfect for spreading onto toast.
