About Me: Hello, I'm Dabbie (short for Dabeluchi). I am a student at Dartford Grammar School for Girls. I love reading mystery books, and solving the mystery with the author. I hope you enjoy reading my stories.
He rushed to the door and opened it, gleaming. He greeted her with a kiss and bent down to high-five John. They did a handshake before he finally opened the door to let him in. He turned around and shouted. “Coming dad!” they shouted back – in return – as a chorus, “Well guys, we are going to have to end the livestream there. Bye guys.” They turned it off and rolled their eyes. Quickly, they ran downstairs and greeted them, with a fake smile painted onto their faces. They hugged Catherine and John. Dad guided them into the lounge area where everyone sat down. The two twins went back onto their phones and sat on the two-seater sofa. Dad picked up the remote and started to switch between channels while talking to his fiancé. They both sat on the three-seater while John was playing video games on the one-seater.
They walked into a room decorated with a sliver chandelier. There was silverware placed all over the table which was covered in a cream sheet. Each person had a silver cup with wine glasses for the adults and silver plates. In the centre of the table there were silver bowls filled with assorted food. We were each served with a plate full of pasta and some clear water with cubes of ice. They both checked their self in the mirror before taking a selfie and sitting down. The loving couple sat next to each other and John sat next to the girls. After they ate, dessert came round and Dad decided to make an announcement. However, this was rather peculiar as he only did it with the twins. They looked at each other confused. Dad never had a meeting with somebody outside of the family. Dad tapped the glass and rose to his feet. Catherine stood up beside him, holding his hand and rested her head on his shoulder. He spoke with a firm but relaxed voice when saying, “I just wanted to announce that...”
“Oh my God, congratulations guys.” Sabrina exclaimed.
“I’m so proud for you.” Samantha gleamed.
“Wait, what!” John said, instantly looking up from his console.
“We have been talking about it and think that it is the next step to move forward in our relationship. Right, Mathew?”
“Yes, honey. We think that it would also bring us together as a family much more.”
After that, they never spoke of the topic. After eating, the girls ran up to their room while John played on his video games in the spare room. The engaged couple relaxed downstairs in perfect peace. Catherine quickly ran upstairs to get her phone that was charging. The hour hand danced around the clock passing the big numbers on its way. Mathew continually checked his watch until it had been a full hour. Anxiously, he ran upstairs and searched each room for his beloved fiancé.
He walked into his room. His heart stopped beating. He struggled to catch his breath. He ran in. Catherine lay on the floor in a pool of blood. Her knuckles were bruised and her hair was scattered. There was a knife covered in blood pinned onto a picture where Catherine and her son spent the summer break in Hawaii with the twins and Mathew. The knife was in the middle of her engagement ring. He shouted from the top of his lungs. The girls came in and John followed.
“Hello. I need a favour.” He said into the phone.
